CVHS is currently caring for around 1,200 small animals that were removed from a severe animal hoarding case on a property in Vinton, Iowa. The animals have spent their first week in CVHS’s care being set up in clean and comfortable homes in the shelter and being checked over by a partner veterinarian. The animals are not currently up for adoption or fostering due to pending legal action. CVHS expects to have the animals in our care for an extended period.
How You Can Help
The majority of these animals will be requiring veterinary care and CVHS expects major health-related expenses. The shelter is also experiencing an additional strain on our operating expenses with the extreme amount of animals. Monetary donations will make the biggest impact. You can donate securely online at cvhumane.org/donate with a credit card or with Paypal by using firstname.lastname@example.org. Checks can be sent to:
Cedar Valley Humane Society
7411 Mt. Vernon Rd. SE
Cedar Rapids, IA 52403
You can stay up to date with our most-needed material donations by checking our facebook page. We will make asks for specific items there to be donated. Currently we are in need of Nature’s Miracle cage odor destroyer, Guinea Pig food, and paper animal cage bedding.
We have received massive support of donated material from the public. Due to limits on storage space in our shelter, we would like to stress to the public to check with us on the items that are needed most.
We NO LONGER need the following items donated:
-Cages, kennels, or aquariums
-Hay or Timothy Hay
–Cedar or Pine bedding
